Why are Mondays so hard? And do they really have to be? We asked five successful women — an actress, an author, a chemist, a philanthropist, and a budding surgeon — to share their secrets on how they make the first day of the week just a little bit easier.
When you become a parent, there’s a lot of worrying and long hours, but your life doesn’t come to a screeching halt; you continue to have dreams. Single mom Danielle Ward is working hard to make those dreams a reality.
Danielle is a single parent, but also a third-year medical student with her sights set on surgery. She genuinely wants to help people — and not just her 9-year-old daughter, Tiana. She’s also inspiring people, spending some of her “free” time blogging about her journey on Aspiring Minority Doctor.
“I wasn’t able to find any accounts of people who shared the same experiences as myself,” she says about the blog. “I wanted to not only inspire and encourage people to go for their dreams, but also have a personal account of my journey to look back on. Most importantly, I wanted to highlight the minority women in medicine who have paved the way for individuals such as myself.”
